Cate's Cause An Appeal Against Homelessness

Bendigo Bank
14 January 2010: Bendigo and Adelaide Bank's philanthropic arm, Community Enterprise FoundationTM, has launched an appeal against homeless ness called 'Cate's Cause'.

The appeal was inspired by the plight of a Queensland couple, Cate and Rick Bolt, and their nine children. Cate's family encountered major financial problems as a result of last year's economic downturn.

"Rick was self-employed as a contractor in the alternate energy markets," Cate said.

"The GFC resulted in his contracts being cancelled and we were hit with some unexpected and very big medical bills."

"We fell into arrears on our rent and lost our home."

Cate said finding appropriate accommodation has been difficult due to the size of her family.
